Front Cover Analysis; Jennifer Lopez - "Brave"

Album Name: Brave
Artist: Jennifer Lopez
Released: 04/10/2007

Jennifer Lopez is a talented R&B/Hip-Hop artist, her sixth studio album "Brave" contains many inspirational songs. But the positive influencing begins at cover of the album, where we see two Jennifer Lopez's on a side angle facing each other with a stern look on their faces. The focused look on her eyes staring into her own figure can be used to imply a battle of her own mind, her own self but still showing real charisma (strands of hair flaring like she's in the wind, facing all conditions, sharp features to show power ans strength, but most of all showing determination), having the ability to face up to herself, that could be her fears or it could be insecurities.

The star like patterns in the purple background can convey a sense that this feeling ("Brave") is universal and any one can relate to this album cover, or it can also convey a sense of exploration into the unknown, through space, especially as the word "BRAVE" is used with a "modern"/"futuristic"/ "Alienlike" font and that only the bravest venture into the furthest parts.

The shining colours of purple and silver adds glamour to the front cover, the bronze faced Jennifer Lopez shows definition and a healthy looking skin, this can also add to the positive outburst this front cover is giving to the viewer.

This front cover reveals the strong points of this female artist and it supports the characteristics of the Hip-Hop and R&B culture through terms of power and self motivation, ready to oppose any negativity as a result her fans and mainstream listeners are likely to purchase this album with fewer hesitation.

Front Cover Analysis; T.I -"No Mercy"

Album Name: No Mercy
Artist: Clifford Joseph Harris, Stage name (T.I)
Released: 07/12/2010

"No Mercy" is the seventh studio album to be released by one of america's famous rapper, T.I

The Front cover of the album shows T.I looking down, head tilted with his hands on his face as if he is wiping a tear. Right below his face are two words in white, contrasting to the main colours used on the cover (black), "No" and "Mercy" in capital letters.

The facial expression T.I has posed for on this cover shows a distressed character, saddened by an unknown factor. With the one light coming from above his head showing regions of dark shades around his face, the lack of illumination creates a gloomy and dull first impression of this cover. This use of colours and poses are very unique in a sense that this rapper T.I, due to the type of genre he is involved in, Hip-Hop/ Rap, which use's mainly bold and multicoloured designs on the front covers to attract their audiences. However this album cover differs from many and interestingly grabs the viewers attention by creating a sympathy feeling towards the always robust yet gentleman like figure of T.I looking deeply saddened with the words "NO" "MERCY" written in capitals which also adds more empathy towards the dismayed character of T.I.

Overall the whole album cover uses two main colours, Black and White/Grey, The background too consists of just one colour, black. This colour scheme could of been purposely used to express the "dim" feeling and emotions of T.I and what is to be then included (lyrically) in the content of the album.
